Deering Oaks

young adult mental health residence Deering oaks Portland maine

Our step-down experience house

The Deering Oaks residence is structured to provide clients with more freedom and independence during the last three months of the Cornerstones program. This is a time that allows our treatment team to observe the areas clients are struggling with when they transition to a home with more freedom and less scaffolding. Our team prioritizes coaching clients accordingly to help them recognize where they might need continued growth and how maladaptive behaviors and patterns may increase in the presence of change. The Deering Oaks does not have 24/7 hour staffing, but they do have Life Skills present during the day. Like the West End house, this location is in the heart of downtown Portland and is within walking distance to the West End residence. Deering Oaks clients are welcome at the West End house and have access to on-call supervisors and clinicians after hours. Clients who transition to the Deering Oaks residence have been identified by their Primary Therapist and Life Skills Coach as being a good candidate based upon their personal responsibility and accountability demonstrated while in the program. They must have shown a commitment to themselves by actively engaging in professional development and academics while proving their commitment to the goals they have set for themselves.
