Cultural Immersion

 

Each year our program will choose a culturally rich location and travel there as a group.  The focus of this travel experience will be immersion in a foreign culture, which we believe aids our residents in broadening their understanding of themselves and their place in the world.  It also builds confidence, resiliency, and trust in oneself and others. 

 

Each year our residents will provide feedback on culturally rich locations that pique their interest.  Our staff will then review the suggestions and determine the most appropriate location. 

 

Once determined, both staff and residents will work together as a group to gather information on the country and region.  We will then plan the actual trip with destinations and activities designed to maximize learning.  This will also include practical skills such as:  learning to buy tickets, making accommodations, managing expenses, and making safe decisions.
