Applying to Cornerstones of Maine
Thank you for your interest in opening an application to Cornerstones of Maine! Below are important details about our admissions process. Please read carefully and email or call one of our admissions officers with any questions.
The Application Process
The Cornerstones of Maine application process is focused on determining whether an applicant is a good fit for the program. For some basic guidelines on goodness of fit please see the page on Our Residents. Below is a description of the steps involved in our application process. We reserve the right to refuse enrollment to any applicant who we determine is not a good fit for the program. Some of the steps below may not be applicable as each application is different.
Referring Phone Call: This is usually the first call in an application. A phone call between a Cornerstones of Maine admissions officer and the referring party (usually an educational consultant) is completed and a brief assessment is made around whether the applicant is a good fit for the program.
Review of Supporting Materials: Our clinical team reviews pertinent psychological evaluations, psychiatric evaluations, and other paperwork provided to us in support of an individuals’ application to the program.
Parent Phone Call: A phone call between a Cornerstones of Maine admissions officer and an applicant’s parents and other sponsor family members is completed.
Provider Phone Call: A phone call between a Cornerstones of Maine admissions officer and a recent treatment provider for the applicant, usually a therapist or psychiatrist is completed.
Applicant Phone Call: A phone call between a Cornerstones of Maine admissions officer and the applicant themselves is completed.
Program Tour: We schedule a program tour for a resident and/or their sponsoring family members. We conduct tours primarily on Mondays, Wednesdays, or Fridays.
Cornerstones is a private pay program and we do not accept insurance. That being said, we do work hard to support parents in their efforts to obtain reimbursement for our clinical services. The program cost is $12,500 a month and there is an additional $2,500 one-time initial enrollment fee that covers all the costs related to setting up the program for a new resident.
Availability and Openings
We will let you know if space is available upon applying to Cornerstones of Maine. Please note that applying to an open bed in the program does not guarantee that the bed will be available if you decide to enroll. We accept ongoing applications for open beds until those spaces are filled. For this reason we will work as expeditiously as we can on our end to complete your application and we recommend that you also work expeditiously through all the necessary steps you will need to finalize a decision to enroll.
